Friends of Ditcheat School

Posted on by

Friends of Ditcheat School (FoDS) is our school association consisting of parents, staff and friends from the local community. FoDS works very closely with the school to enrich the children’s experiences by funding visits within the local area and further afield; paying for visitors to come into school to perform or work with the children; buying equipment for learning and play, and organising and supporting a number of social occasions throughout the year, such as the Christmas lunch, parties and/or discos, bingo and seasonal fayres.

Enormous THANKS to all of the local businesses to have generously donated prizes for the Christmas Raffle. Don’t forget, tickets are available from the School office until 17th Dec and are just £1 each.

There are some easy ways to support our fund raising efforts.

Go to the EasyFundraising website or download the app to your phone or tablet. A whole host of online retailers are included and with every purchase you make, FoDS will receive a cashback amount.

Twice a year we ask parents to collect unwanted clothes, shoes, belts, hats and soft toys, pop them in a Bag2School bag and drop them off, at school, on the allocated collection day. FoDS receive 0.41p per Kg collected. This is a brilliant way of clearing a little space in your wardrobe and helping the School! Collections are usually November and May.

Keep an eye on the School newsletter, noticeboard and to keep updated with our events!

In previous years FoDS have funded two very large projects :

  • Raising money to move the school kitchen. This has provided a larger working space for staff to prepare meals and also provided an area where children can learn how to prepare and cook food.

  • Raising money to build an open classroom. A wonderful space to learn during lesson times and find shelter during playtimes.

This year FoDS are paying for the children to watch a pantomime at the village hall, as part of their Christmas activities.
