Community Lunch

Community Lunch

It was with great excitement that we opened our doors for our second community meal on Tuesday April 19th.

The school was delighted that twelve members of the community signed up and  booked  in for one of Mrs Cooper’s special roast lunches.

The menu was agreed, the Year 6 waiters and waitresses trained  and the rest of the children prepped up on their best table manners.

The diners all arrived and waited patiently while the children were served. They were then served by the year 6 children while the younger children enjoyed talking to the guests.

All of the guests appeared  to enjoy the meal and  the special atmosphere created by the children.

We hope to host another meal early in the autumn term.

Book Week

This year our theme for book week was Nursery Ryhmes. Mrs Milne made sure there were plenty of activities and classes explored a range of different rhymes.

Willow class were fascinated by the history of some of Nursery Rymes. Do you know where 'Mary Mary quite contrary' comes from?

Thanks to the generosity of one of our parents, a yurt was constructed and children were able to read inside.

"It was such a calm place to come and read," said one child.

On the Friday of Book Week the children and staff dressed up as nursery ryhme characters. Can you spot the characters?

Spanish day!

Hola! We have had a lovely day today learning about Spain. From tasting Spanish food, discovering Spanish customs, to painting like Picasso and flamenco dancing, we really have immersed ourselves in Spanish culture.

Willow and Maple Class are studying Illuminations this term. As part of this work we invited the Somerset Carnival Project CIPPS into school.

The children loved dressing up, studying the history of carnivals and visiting a real carnival float.

Art's Week

To round up our Art's Week just before half term the children all came into the school hall (as they were unable to go into the playground due to wet weather) where they could choose whatever media they wished and have a free arts session. All the children were actively engaged and enjoyed the freedom to make their own choices.

Sports Mark

The school has been working hard over the last year to achieve the bronze Sainsbury's Sports Mark.

Student Council
Here are the new student council members elected for the year 2014-2015. There is a representative for each year, they are as follows: Josh, Ed, Harry, Callie, Emilyand Ethan. They meet every half term and discuss issues from each class. Following each meeting the student council members report back to their classes and Mrs Seager.

Visiting Artist

Colin Bell (visiting artist) came to the school to help the children paint a mural for the playground. The children drew pictures of various Olympic sports, then we sent them to Colin prior to his visit, he copied them onto the display board ready for the children to paint, every child enjoyed painting a part of it. During the summer holidays it will be erected in the playground ready for the new term.

360 Safe - Internet Safety Award

The school was delighted to achieve the internet safety awarded, 360 Safe, in the summer of 2014.
