Hello and welcome to Holly Class!
We are so enthusiastic about our learning and have been developing our skills as independent learners. We’re not afraid to make mistakes as this is a pat of learning but we do like to try our very best, present our work beautifully and show you what we can do!
Our focus topic this term is Survival, The Stone Age to The Iron Age. We will be studying what life was like in 13,000 BC all the way up to the Iron Age when humans discovered a better metal than bronze!
In English we will be writing across a variety of different genres such as: Story writing about the first drawing and meeting a Stone Age human and non-fiction texts giving information about the periods of time studied.
If you would like to support your child further with their English at home, please continue reading at home and use Spelling Shed to help develop their spellings.
We have a lot to look forward to in Maths this term including:
- Place value
- Addition and subtraction
- Multiplication and division
We have our club tables up and running and the children are working super hard already to move on up in the club. Please do help them at home to practise their set each week.
Extra to this they can be supported with the use of TT Rockstars and Maths Shed.
Our science unit this term is Rocks and Soils. The children will become petrologists and will learn the different types of rocks and how they are formed. They will leave the term knowing what is beneath their feet and why.
PE: Currently on a Wednesday and Friday! Please make sure kits and trainers are in school.
Homework: Please hear your children read a little each day. On a Monday, children will be given a list of spellings and a set of times tables from their club to learn. They will need homework books in school on a Monday please. There will also be a Spelling Shed assignment set each week to help the children to learn the spelling rule, or pattern for the week.
